Governor visits ATA summer camp
From: The Anguillian newspaper Date: July 27, 2004 By: Brenda Carty ANGUILLA-On Tuesday July 27 Governor Alan Huckle visited the locations where the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA) summer camp is taking place. This year there are more than 200 children taking part in the three week camp and for this last week 18 coaches are on island to assist. The Governor first visited the students playing at the Temenos tennis courts at Long Bay that includes 20 children from the USA. He was greeted by the founder and president of the ATA, Mitchelle Lake and he met the Executive Director of the ATA, Bill Riddle and some of the other coaches. He spoke to some of the participants and was presented with two tennis shirts and an ATA coach's hat by Lake. Following the visit to Temenos the Governor visited the players at Malliouhana, Carimar, Frangipani and CuisinArt tennis courts and talked with coaches and participants there.
![]() This is the 9th year of the ATA tennis camp that has grown over the years. There is currently a state of the art facility being built by the ATA at Blowing Point with six courts, a stadium court and main building that is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2005. There is a film crew from Nashville, Tennessee, Travis TV, making a video of the camp this year for airing locally and internationally.
